Grade by Grade Instructions
Each grade has different requirements and plans for summer reading. Please use the Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School tabs to locate your son's grade or classes for the 2024 / 2025 school year. Please read all specifications carefully. In some cases, you will need to download documents or selection lists. Please contact Library Department Chair, Murielle Louis, mlouis@browning.edu or Lower School Librarian, Samantha Gill, sgill@browning.edu if you have any questions.
Purchasing Summer Reading Titles
We're partnering with nearby independent bookseller, Shakespeare & Co. again this summer. Most books on these lists are in store (or will be soon), many more can be ordered. Additionally, Shakespeare & Co. will offer a 10% discount for Browning students purchasing summer reading titles. The bookstore is located at 939 Lexington Avenue, between 68th and 69th.
These books are also available online, through your local public library, and at other book sellers in print and in digital formats.
Browning Library Ebooks and Audiobooks Collection
Most of these titles will be accessible in digital format through Sora and Learning Ally.
Required Reads
The required reads will be distributed to Upper School students.
Recommended Reads
In addition to requirements, the librarians and teachers have also included some recommended titles for those who wish to keep reading. These are books that are good all year long!
Additional Work
Our literacy and math specialists have also provided optional work.
